Weston Leavens – The Voice of experience

We are excited to be the exclusive West Coast distributor of Americana thermally treated decking and siding.  At this time, we are stocking three profiles of ash decking as well as tongue and groove porch flooring.  Americana decking appeals to customers who want an ultra- low maintenance deck but prefer the look and feel of wood over plastics.  With other woods, sealing and staining is essential for best performance.  With Americana decking, staining is purely optional, however, for best results we recommend pre-sealing with Cutek Extreme wood protection oil.  Here is a list of some of the advantages of Americana decking:

1)            Beautiful – The grain patterns in the thermally treated ash give a hardwood floor appearance.

2)            25-year lifespan.  Thermal treatment changes the sugars in the wood so it is inedible to insects and dry rot fungus.

3)            Requires no staining or pre-sealing for protection from the elements.   Weathers to a beautiful silver gray but stays smooth.  (May be pre-sealed and stained with with Cutek Extreme wood protection oil for extra protection and enhanced appearance.)

4)            Three profiles are available: Two classic flat planks in 1 x 6 and 5/4 x 6, as well as a plank with a slight crown so there are never puddles on the deck.  This slight crown also feels delightful under bare feet.

5)            Requires no end sealing wax, however as above, we recommend using Cutek Extreme for best results. ( Cutek Extreme  may be used in place of end sealing wax on other hardwoods as well)

6)            The enhanced stability of Americana decking makes it ideal for low ventilation and close to the ground applications.  Most hardwood warranties are void if a deck is within 18” of grade or built with inadequate ventilation.

7)            Americana grooved decking may be installed with Invisi-Fast biscuit clips.

8)           Crowned decking comes in a convenient 16″ increments making it easy to land your planks on joists. The flat boards come in 12″ increments and come with a structural end match system for easy connection or for putting the joist between the planks.

9)         Sustainable – Americana decking is certified by FSC (Forest Stewardship Council).

10)        Americana decking thermally treated ash decking is grown, harvested and treated right here in the U.S.A.  (Other brands ship their products to Europe or Turkey for thermal treatment and then back to the U.S.)

11)        Americana decking combines the beauty and feel of wood with the ultra-low maintenance of composites.

12)        Americana decking is cool under foot.  Perfect for use in the hottest applications.

13)         Unmatched stability – Cupping, warping, twisting, and expansion/contraction from moisture or temperature are minimized with American decking.

14)         Lower price point than any comparable thermally treated ash decking.

15)          Americana thermally treated ash decking is 3 times harder than redwood and 4 times harder than cedar.  This makes your deck far more resistant to scratches and wear.  Dog toenails are very hard on softwood decks but will not bother the hard ash decking.

16)         Americana deck planks are milled straight so during construction there is little need to straighten bowed boards.

17)         Americana planks are very square cut, which dramatically reduces the need for extra cutting during construction and minimizes waste.

18)         Because of the advantages listed above, contractors report being able to install an Americana deck in about 1/2 the time it takes to install a tropical hardwood deck.

You can see why Americana decking is fast becoming a very popular choice both for contractors and do-it-yourself homeowners.
